Highland Laboratories was established in 1960 to provide 16mm color film processing (under license by Eastman-Kodak) to San Francisco's largest film laboratory. The video department was established in 1974 in cooperation with Ampex Corporation.

Highlan has been involved in the production and post production of motion pictures and videos such as The Fabulous Fox (theater), S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien, Last of the Liberties, Joe Carcione, the Green Grocer, Classic Microphones From the Golden Age of Radio Volumes One, Two and Three (in cooperation with Bob Morrison-Standard Tape Laboratories), various titles for the Bay Area Electric Railroad Association (Railroad Museum-Rio Vista, CA), and others.

Clients have included CBS News, NBC News, ABC News and San Francisco TV Stations KRON, KPIX, KGO, and KTVU, Chia Pets, Coit Drapery & Upholstery Cleaners, Mervyn's, Emporium/Capwell, Macy's, the Nuova Porziuncola/Knights of Saint Francis of Assisi, and many others.

Our colleagues and associates have included: Bob Morrison-Ampex, Standard Tape Laboratories, Don Lincoln-KPIX-TV, Sutro Tower-SF, Ken Ackerman-KCBS Radio/TV, David Tonelli-KRKD FM, the “Broadcast Legends” organization and many more.

Having a deep background in sound recording and disc mastering dating back to the 1950's as Highland Recording Company , Highland Laboratories has partnered with the world-famous Caffe Trieste organization (the Original “Beat” Caffe that introduced Espresso coffee to the West Coast in 1956), directly participating in the recording, production, and post-production of several music and video projects, including a feature length documentary about Caffe Trieste founder “Papa Gianni” Giotta. Highland also played a large role in the construction, design, and outfitting of the new TRIESTE RECORDING STUDIOS ( www.triesterecordingstudios.com )

About BOB Morrison:
You may have heard the voice of BOB MORRISON on local Radio in the Bay Area, or as the voice of Ampex Standard Tapes or STANDARD TAPE LABORTATORY, S.M.P.T.E. Test Films, and many scientific and instructional films. He was also Chief Engineer for radio station KRE AM-FM in Berkeley, CA and worked in recording studios for the Office of War Information and the Voice of America stations in San Francisco and New York.
